At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, I had the chance to chat with Arthur Parsons, co-founder and head of publishing at 10:10 Games Limited, in the Winchester Pub. We discussed the upcoming game Funko Fusion and the unique aspects of integrating various intellectual properties (IPs) into one cohesive universe.
Bringing Funko Fusion to Life
Arthur Parsons began by discussing his journey from making Lego games to co-founding 10:10 Games and creating Funko Fusion. The transition to developing this new game was fueled by excitement and the opportunity to explore uncharted territory.
\”Yeah, I\’m one of the co-founders of 10:10 Games, and I\’m currently the head of publishing there. I was the design director for a couple of years. We then decided we were going to publish the game ourselves digitally because we\’re a new company. We\’ve all made games in the past. We used to make Lego games.
We used to work at a company called TT, but now I work at a company called 10:10. There\’s probably about 90 of us. It\’s a really great team, and yeah, we\’re bringing Funko to life and bringing Funko to people to play as a video game, which has never been done, and it\’s so exciting.\”

\”So this activation here is cool. Like, I didn\’t realize it was 20 years. Like, Shaun\’s 20 years old. It makes me feel old, but to be able to bring a beloved franchise like Shaun of the Dead into the game, that\’s what Funko Fusion is about. It\’s stuff that wouldn\’t necessarily go into a video game on its own, but we\’re able to bring those to Funko Fusion.
So we\’ve got Hot Fuzz, we\’ve got Shaun of the Dead, and we\’re able to treat them authentically, have some fun as well, a bit of humor in there, but give people that are fans of Shaun of the Dead that experience of, hold on, there\’s a zombie apocalypse, right? Let\’s get to the Winchester, let\’s have a nice cold pint, wait for it all to blow over, and retell that story but through the Funko lens.\”
Parsons explained that Funko Fusion allows players to experience the world of Shaun of the Dead in a unique way, blending humor and authenticity. \”So, Funko Fusion has over 20 different IPs. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, but also things like Jurassic World, Five Nights at Freddy\’s, Invincible, Back to the Future. So all of those things together, you\’re like, how does that work? How do those things sit in one cohesive universe? And so we\’ve knitted it together with a Funko story, and the story people will see—my lips are sealed, the trailer comes out tomorrow—but they\’ll see Freddy Funko, and then they\’ll see what is the story behind Funko Fusion.\”

This is something where we\’ve made loads of games in the past, the team and I, and we love treating IP with authenticity, love, and care, and attention.\”
