Universal Studios Hollywood is shifting into overdrive. The entertainment giant just unveiled Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a groundbreaking outdoor roller coaster speeding into the park in 2026 — and it’s already a record-breaker.
Hollywood’s Wildest Ride Yet
Strap in. When it opens, Hollywood Drift will become the fastest roller coaster in Universal Destinations & Experiences’ global lineup, hitting a jaw-dropping 72 MPH. But that’s just the beginning, the 4,100-foot track twists through the iconic Upper Lot, soaring above escalators and winding past park landmarks in a true high-octane spectacle.
What sets it apart isn’t just the speed. Each ride vehicle will feature 360-degree full rotation, simulating the signature drift maneuvers of the Fast & Furious films. The experience promises total immersion, from high-speed twists to cinematic theming — including cars modeled after fan-favorite vehicles like Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift – A New Legend in the Making
The coaster’s queue will take place inside a massive garage-style structure, fueling the experience from the moment guests walk in. With only four cars launching per round, this adrenaline-pumping ride aims for intensity over scale — exactly what fans crave.
Universal also released a first-look rendering and animatic video, teasing the insane speed, gravity-defying spins, and park-defining footprint of the coaster.
Scott Strobl, Executive VP and General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood, called it “a powerful game changer” that will transform the park’s landscape and energy. “2026 is just around the corner,” he said, “and we’re as excited as our guests to introduce such an inspiring new ride.”
