LEGO SMART Play Lights Up Las Vegas Sphere with a Brick-built Death Star

LEGO SMART Play just crash-landed into CES with a spectacle for the ages. In collaboration with Disney Consumer Products and Lucasfilm, the LEGO Group transformed the Las Vegas Sphere’s Exosphere into a brick-built Death Star and let fans pilot a giant LEGO X-wing to recreate the iconic trench run from Star Wars: A New Hope in real time.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart even jumped in the cockpit to blast the station, kicking off a year where SMART Play launches with Star Wars and turns building into a two-way adventure. Preorders begin January 9, with the first SMART Play sets arriving March 1, 2026 in select markets.

From Skyline Stunt to Playable Galaxy

Sphere Studios built the first interactive game ever played on the Exosphere, the world’s largest LED screen. Fans took a seat in a life-size LEGO X-wing cockpit and steered across the massive display to “blow up” the LEGO Star Wars Death Star in front of the Vegas skyline.

“I felt like a kid again, stepping into the giant LEGO X-Wing and lighting up the Las Vegas skyline in honor of my favorite movies,” said Jaxson Dart, who helped send the station sky-high during the live activation.
