Disney announced over 100 titles during their conference today. I thought it best to break it down to the pertinent houses to make it easier to access and digest. So here's the Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel News:
Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel Shows (with Trailers)
WandaVision - an original series from Marvel Studios starts streaming on January 15, 2021, on Disney+. This wasn't really announced as much as another trailer dropped in the same time frame and I'm not sure if it was part of Investor Day or not because I was in the bathroom. But it is definitely relevant. I love how the show homages so many different styles of television programming and can't wait to see how it is interwoven into the show and the characters' powers. I get a Pleasantville and Truman Show vibe. Plus Randall Park's Jimmy Woo is in it for no obvious reason, which means it's going to be a pretty good reason.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier - an original series from Marvel Studios starts streaming March 19, 2021, on Disney+. I'm a big fan of the begrudging partnership of Falcon and Winter Soldier and can't wait to see them hash things out while they also save the world and inspire people. Winter Soldier's knife fighting and Falcon's seamless integration of flight into his movements look to reach new levels of awesome in the series.
Loki - an original series from Marvel Studios starts streaming May 2021 on Disney+. The series looks to pick up from Loki's escape during the Time Heist in Avengers Endgame. I honestly can't keep track of where this show is going but it looks amazing. The scene featuring the Vote Loki stuff has me incredibly hyped. But I really don't know what's going on in this series, or who Own Wilson and the TVA are supposed to be. From the closed captions, Owen Wilson is playing Mobius M. Mobius and I believe TVA is the Time Variance Agency. But I don't think I've actually read anything that featured them. But Time Variance promises a lot of different versions of Loki, and the trailer makes it seem the series will definitely deliver on that promise.
WHAT IF...? - an original series from Marvel Studios, coming Summer 2021 to Disney+. WHAT IF...? looks to explore alternate realities of the MCU if things happened differently than portrayed. For example, Peggy Carter receiving the Super Soldier Serum or Yondu abducting T'Challa instead of Quill. What impresses me the most is that I believe they got the original actors to reprise their roles in these alternate versions. I can't confirm, but I believe that we will get to witness Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa one last time in this series, and as T'Challa Star-Lord at that.
Ms. Marvel - an original series from Marvel Studios is coming late 2021 to Disney+. I'm excited to see such a new character join the MCU. Also +10 for diversity and representation. Though it did receive a lot of backlash for some casting choices. Hopefully, things get fixed before production starts.
Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel Shows (without Trailers)
Hawkeye - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton, Hawkeye an Original Member of the Avengers. He is teaming up with Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop as well as Vera Farmiga's Fra Fee and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.
She-Hulk - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Tatiana Mslany will portay Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and will feature the return of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tim Roth as The Abomination.
Moon Knight - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Best way for me to sum up Moon Knight is a Batman-ish vigilante who has multiple personalities. He's a lot more interesting than I make him sound, I just don't know much about him.
Secret Invasion - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury with Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos. Looks like the end credit of Far From Home was leading to this.
Ironheart - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. In the comics Riri Williams took over for Iron Man when Tony Stark went away, and it looks like she will in the MCU as well. The genius inventor of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man, Riri Williams, will be portrayed by Dominique Thorne.
Armor Wars - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Based on a classic run where Tony Stark's worst fear of his tech falling into the wrong hands becomes reality. It looks like it'll be up to James Rhodes, Don Cheadle, to save the world and his friend's legacy. I'm hoping Ironheart makes her way into this and vice versa.
I am Groot - an original series from Marvel Studios coming to Disney+. Baby Groot will star in a series of shorts that will feature several new and unusual characters. No word if James Gunn or Vin Diesel is attached, but I would assume so.
Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel Movies
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - The cast and their roles were shared long with the July 9, 2021 release date.
Captain Marvel 2 - Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers with Nia DaCosta helming as the film's director. Joining them are recently announced Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani, and Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris. The film is set to fly into theaters on November 11, 2022.
Thor: Love and Thunder - Christian Bale will be playing Gorr the God Butcher and the film is set to release on May 6, 2022.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania - Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer will be reprising their roles with Peyton Reed to direct. The film will also feature Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
Black Panther 2 - Marvel will honor Chadwick Boseman's legacy and portrayal of King T'Challa and will not recast the role. The film will instead focus on the larger World of Wakanda.
Fantastic 4 - Will be directed by Spider-Man Homecoming/Far From Home director Jon Watts.
*Black Widow - set for theaters May 7, 2021. I don't remember it specifically being mentioned but I figure it's a good place for the information.
Other Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel Stuff
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special - James Gunn is back to write and direct an original holiday special coming to Disney+ in 2022. I'm guessing around the holidays. I'm already laughing thinking of Drax expecting everyone to spend more money on his gift than he spent on theirs.
Stuff I wish was covered in Disney Investor Day 2020 Marvel News
Honestly, so much was announced it's really hard to take in. I do wish there was more on the next Dr. Strange and The Eternals. But with so much coming and it starts next month. It looks like Marvel is looking to make up for the lack of MCU programming in 2020.
