The Hawk

The Hawk Reveals Will Ferrell’s Golf Legend Ahead of Summer 2026

Netflix has officially titled Will Ferrell’s upcoming golf comedy The Hawk, and the first character reveal makes clear exactly what kind of chaos is heading to the course. Ferrell stars as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a once-great golfer trying to fight his way back onto the PGA TOUR, and Netflix is launching the series with not one teaser, but three. The 10-episode comedy is set to premiere in summer 2026, giving Ferrell a big new original character and a sports comeback story built for maximum absurdity.

The Comeback Swing Starts Here

Lonnie Hawkins sounds like the kind of Ferrell role built to live in people’s heads. He was the number one golfer of 2004, but now he is stuck on the back nine of his career, chasing one more major title to complete golf’s Grand Slam. His body says he is done. His family agrees. Lonnie does not. That stubborn refusal gives The Hawk a strong comic engine right away, especially with Ferrell playing a man who still believes he is one perfect round away from history.

Netflix also seems to know exactly how to sell the joke. The title reveal comes with three separate teasers, all centered on Lonnie’s larger-than-life return, and the campaign is even tying into THE PLAYERS Championship.

That kind of rollout makes the series feel less like a quiet comedy drop and more like a full-on introduction to a ridiculous sports icon who thinks the world has been waiting for him.

The Hawk Has a Locker Room Full of Comedy Talent

The supporting cast only makes the setup better. Alongside Ferrell, The Hawk stars Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. That lineup gives the show a strong mix of chaos, dry comedy, and old-school Ferrell energy, which feels right for a series about ego, legacy, and one man refusing to leave the spotlight.

Behind the scenes, the project has a stacked producing team as well. Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alix Taylor executive produce for Gloria Sanchez Productions, while Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue executive produce for T-Street. Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green, and Andrew Guest also serve as executive producers. That creative bench gives The Hawk a lot of room to become more than a one-joke sports parody.

The Hawk will stream on Netflix in summer 2026. The comedy series will run for 10 episodes and will be available exclusively on the platform when it premieres.

Plots: A housewife with a history of mental illness grows increasingly suspicious that her husband may be a notorious serial killer. As she investigates his unexplained absences, her grip on reality begins to unravel.
Housewife Annie Marsh (Dame Helen Mirren) suspects her husband might be The Hawk, a brutal serial killer. Complicating matters is the fact that she once was incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital. When she discovers she does not have the happy marriage she always believed and begins to piece together the times and dates of her husband’s frequent absences, her fears begin to take hold, and her sanity deteriorates.
The film tells the story of a serial killer, known by the police as The Hawk, who preys on women in the North of England. He sexually assaults the victims before striking them with a hammer and picking out their insides, like a hawk, hence his nickname. Meanwhile, Annie Marsh (Dame Helen Mirren) is a housewife living in the area of where the killings are taking place, with her husband, Stephen (George Costigan) and their two young children. Stephen is often away on business, but Annie soon notices that he is away whenever the killer strikes. To make matters worse, Annie was once institutionalized due to a mental illness. Is she crazy? Or is her husband a knife-wielding murderer?
