Apple TV has released the official trailer for Lucky, a new limited series starring and executive produced by Anya Taylor-Joy, and it looks like a sharp, fast-moving crime thriller built around pressure, pursuit, and one very bad heist. Based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley, the seven-episode series follows Lucky, a con artist forced to go on the run when a multimillion-dollar score falls apart. With the FBI closing in and a ruthless crime boss on her trail, the trailer sets up a story that looks sleek, dangerous, and very willing to keep its lead character cornered.
A Con Artist Cornered From Every Side
The strongest thing about the setup is how cleanly it sells the danger. Lucky is not just fleeing one threat. She is being hunted from multiple directions, which gives the series a built-in sense of momentum right away. The heist has already gone wrong, the walls are already closing in, and the story seems less interested in comfort than in how long Lucky can stay ahead before everything catches her.
That pressure looks like a perfect fit for Taylor-Joy. She tends to work best when a character has to stay intelligent, composed, and a little unpredictable while the situation gets uglier around them. Lucky seems ready to lean hard into that, which should give the series its edge beyond the basic thriller framework.
Lucky Has a Prestige Ensemble With Real Weight

The cast around Taylor-Joy only makes the show look stronger. Lucky also stars Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner, which gives the series a lot of room for menace, emotional fallout, and shifting loyalties. For a story built on pursuit and survival, that kind of ensemble can make every alliance feel temporary and every conversation feel loaded.

Behind the camera, the series comes from creator Jonathan Tropper, who co-showruns with Cassie Pappas. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce through Hello Sunshine, while Taylor-Joy also executive produces through LadyKiller. That creative lineup gives Lucky a mix of star power and polished thriller credentials that should help it feel more elevated than disposable.
The Chase Starts in July

Apple TV is launching Lucky with its first two episodes on July 15, then rolling out new episodes weekly through August 19. That release strategy feels smart for a thriller like this, since it gives the show time to build momentum and conversation instead of burning through all its twists at once.
Lucky premieres globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with the first two episodes available at launch. New episodes will debut every Wednesday through August 19.
