Netflix is opening the gates to The Boroughs, a new supernatural series from the executive producers of Stranger Things that turns a quiet retirement community into the last place you would ever want to take an evening stroll. When a grieving newcomer runs into something monstrous, he pulls together a misfit crew of retirees who refuse to go quietly, especially when the neighborhood hides a secret that wants them gone.
Retirees, Monsters, and a Mystery That Bites Back

The Boroughs follows Sam Cooper (Alfred Molina), a recent widower trying to figure out what comes next, until a terrifying encounter forces him to look at his “perfect” community in a whole new light. Creators and showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews describe the series as scary, mysterious, exciting, and emotional, built to hold all those tones at once. They also promise a group of unlikely heroes you will not just root for, you will genuinely fall in love with.

The Duffer Brothers back that up, calling the show the kind of story they have wanted to see more of: one that treats aging with real humanity, then throws its characters into supernatural chaos anyway. It keeps the spirit of Stranger Things, just with golf carts instead of bikes.
A Cast That Brings the Heat

Netflix stacked the cast with an all-killer lineup of screen legends, including Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman, alongside Molina at the center. Addiss and Matthews say the cast brings generations of craft to every scene, and the Duffers emphasize that while the monsters look incredible, the characters will stay with you long after the credits roll.
How and When to Enter The Boroughs

Netflix premieres The Boroughs on May 21, 2026, only on Netflix, with an eight-episode season ready to pull you into its eerie retirement community, its escalating mystery, and its surprisingly heartfelt heroics.
