Prime Video has dropped the trailer and official key art for Butterfly, an intense new spy thriller starring and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim. Set to premiere all six episodes on August 13, this adaptation of the BOOM! Studios graphic novel blends high-stakes espionage with deeply personal drama, promising a must-watch event for thriller fans.
A Dark Tale of Espionage and Betrayal
Butterfly centers on David Jung, played by Kim, a former US intelligence operative hiding out in South Korea. Jung’s carefully constructed life implodes when a brutal decision from his past resurfaces, forcing him into a deadly game of cat and mouse with Rebecca, a sociopathic young agent sent to eliminate him. As he evades capture, Jung also contends with the looming shadow of Caddis, the ruthless spy organization pulling the strings.

Daniel Dae Kim leads a cast that includes Reina Hardesty as Rebecca, Piper Perabo, and Louis Landau. The recurring lineup features Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim. Guest appearances by Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa add even more depth to the global espionage drama.

Ken Woodruff, known for The Mentalist and Gotham, serves as showrunner and co-creator alongside acclaimed novelist Steph Cha.
