MtG Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Goblin Storm

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm Is Bringing Pure Gobbo Chaos to Commander

Secret Lair is about to let loose a full-blown Goblin weather event. Wizards of the Coast has announced Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm, a new 100-card Commander deck built around fast, aggressive Goblin attacks and the patience, counting, and explosive payoff of the Storm mechanic. That combination alone would be enough to get red mages grinning, but this drop also comes loaded with brand-new art from Wizard of Barge, whose goofy, lovable gobbos give the whole thing the exact kind of unhinged personality a deck like this should have.

A Deck Built to Count High and Swing Hard

What makes Goblin Storm stand out right away is that it is not just another tribal deck with a fresh coat of paint. Wizards is pitching it as a mashup of all-out Goblin aggression and the more methodical, spell-counting chaos of Storm, which should make for a playstyle that feels both explosive and surprisingly tricky. That is a very funny and very dangerous mix.

Designed by Carmen Klomparens and Eli Rice, the deck sounds built for players who want to flood the board, keep the pressure on, and still have enough weird stack-play nonsense to make the table nervous. If Goblins are usually about speed and mess, Goblin Storm seems determined to prove they can also be calculated little freaks.

The art push here feels like a huge part of the appeal. Wizard of Barge’s style already fits Secret Lair’s weirder side perfectly, and applying that energy to Goblins sounds like a layup. Wizards says the deck includes 12 foil borderless cards with brand-new art, featuring cards like Zada, Hedron Grinder, Krenko, Mob Boss, Broadside Bombadiers, Grapeshot, and Roaming Throne. On top of that, the deck also includes 22 brand-new foil borderless Mountains in Wizard of Barge’s signature style.

That kind of treatment makes this feel like more than a functional Commander precon. It feels like a full aesthetic object, the kind of deck people will want to play, show off, and maybe leave out on a desk like it is some kind of goblin shrine.

Secret Lair is also stuffing the box with the kind of bonus junk Goblin players will absolutely eat up. Along with the ready-to-play 100-card deck, the package includes foil Goblin tokens with new art, non-foil double-sided tokens, a Storm counter helper, a special Zada, Hedron Grinder display commander, and a deck box to keep the whole little disaster contained.

That helps justify the premium positioning. At $149.99, this is clearly aimed at collectors and Commander fans who want a deck that feels complete right out of the box, both mechanically and visually. Between the art, the tokens, the tracker, and the Goblin-Storm gimmick itself, this one feels very aware of exactly who it is for.

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm goes on sale May 18 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time through the Secret Lair storefront for $149.99, while supplies last. Orders over $99 ship free, and fans can sign up for sale notifications now. The full decklist is available on DailyMTG.

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Goblin Storm mashes Goblin aggression with Storm chaos for one of Secret Lair’s most gloriously unhinged Commander drops yet.
