Audible Brings Dungeon Crawler Carl, Heads Will Roll, and Donut Chaos to SDCC

Audible is heading to San Diego Comic-Con with a stacked lineup for audio fans, comedy fans, and anyone ready to earn XP between panels. The company will host two exclusive panels on Saturday, July 25, spotlighting Dungeon Crawler Carl and Heads Will Roll. Audible will also open its immersive Level Up Lounge, plus send a Princess Donut food truck onto the streets of San Diego.

Dungeon Crawler Carl Gets a Totally Professional Panel

The first Audible panel of the day is “Goddamnit, Donut: A Totally Professional Panel with Matt Dinniman & Jeff Hays.” Author Matt Dinniman and narrator Jeff Hays will discuss the explosive success of the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobooks and the creative process behind turning the chaotic LitRPG series into an audio phenomenon.

The panel should be a treat for longtime crawlers and curious newcomers. Dinniman and Hays will share behind-the-scenes stories about the series, its wild humor, and the writer-narrator chemistry that helps bring the dungeon to life. Maude Garrett will moderate the conversation.

Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne Talk Medieval Mayhem

Audible will also bring Heads Will Roll to SDCC with co-creators and sisters Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne. Their panel will explore how they built the absurd medieval comedy series, which has been described as Game of Thrones meets What We Do in the Shadows.

With Season 2, Heir Apparent, now available, McKinnon and Lynne will discuss their creative process and recording with an all-star cast. That cast includes Carrie Coon, Sam Richardson, Megan Mullally, Richard Kind, Patti LuPone, and more. Britta von Schoeler, executive producer of Broadway Video, will moderate.

The Level Up Lounge Turns Audible Audiobooks Into a Player Hub

Audible’s Level Up Lounge will transform Swing Social into an interactive fan space inspired by Dungeon Crawler Carl and Bobiverse. Attendees can earn XP by participating in themed experiences, then redeem that XP for exclusive loot and prizes.

The activation includes a Bobiverse zone inspired by BobNet and a Dungeon Crawler Carl survival zone where fans can record a Crawler Incident Report. There will also be cosplay touchups, listening stations, phone charging, photo ops, and themed giveaways. Honestly, a charging station that also rewards you with loot feels like the most SDCC survival mechanic possible.

Audible is also sending out a fully wrapped Princess Donut food truck on Friday, July 24. The truck will hand out free donut holes, custom Audible-branded boxes with QR codes, and exclusive merchandise to SDCC attendees.

The themed flavors are already ridiculous in the best way. “Goddamnit, Donut!” brings cinnamon chaos, “Samantha’s Head” offers powdered sugar, and “The Desperado Glaze” delivers a vanilla glaze approved for only the finest dungeon society. Fans should also watch for more Dungeon Crawler Carl surprises across San Diego.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl panel takes place Saturday, July 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, Indigo Ballroom. The Heads Will Roll panel follows from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 5AB at the San Diego Convention Center. The Level Up Lounge is open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swing Social, while the Princess Donut food truck runs Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 502 7th Ave.
