Yip yip, the Avatar is almost back. Paramount+ has set Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender to premiere globally on July 25, and the official trailer makes it clear this is aiming for a full-scale return to the Four Nations. The new animated film follows Aang as he learns of an ancient power that could save Air Nomad culture from extinction, sending him and his friends on a race to find it before it falls into the wrong hands. With Eric Nam leading the voice cast as Aang, Dave Bautista joining as Tagah, and Comic-Con plans already in place, Paramount is treating this like a major Avatar event, and it should.
A New Quest With Real Weight
What makes this setup hit is that the stakes feel bigger than just another adventure. Aang is not only trying to stop a threat. He is chasing something tied directly to the survival of his own people. That gives the movie a stronger emotional center right away, especially for a story built around a character who has always carried the burden of loss and legacy.
The trailer seems to understand that balance too. It looks large, action-heavy, and mythic, but the deeper hook is still Aang’s connection to what has already been taken from him and what might still be saved. That is exactly the kind of angle this universe works best with.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender Voice Cast Gives the Return More Firepower
Eric Nam voicing Aang feels like a smart centerpiece for the film, while Dave Bautista as Tagah adds a real sense of threat and scale. The larger voice cast also gives the movie plenty of weight, with Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Dionne Quan as Toph, alongside Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Ronny Chieng, and Ken Jeong.

Then there is Dee Bradley Baker returning as Appa and Momo, which is one of those details that instantly makes the whole thing feel more like home. The cast mix here feels built to honor the world fans already love while still giving this new film its own personality.
San Diego Gets the Avatar Treatment First
Paramount is also bringing Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender to San Diego Comic-Con in a big way. The film will get a Hall H panel on Thursday, July 23, where the voice cast and creative team will talk through the making of the movie and tease what is next for the Avatar universe. Then on Friday, July 24, fans will get an exclusive screening in Ballroom 20 before the movie even premieres on Paramount+.
That is a strong one-two move. It gives the project both the big convention spotlight and an actual fan-first screening, which is exactly how you roll out something this beloved. On top of that, fans can stop by Paramount+’s Press Play Arcade booth for an Avatar-themed Cabbage Cart Madness game, which is the kind of dumb, perfect Comic-Con detail this franchise deserves.
