Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios are putting the spotlight squarely on Eternia’s biggest icon with a new “Who is He-Man?” featurette for Masters of the Universe. Instead of just selling the scale of the film, this latest preview zeroes in on the core of the story: Prince Adam’s transformation into He-Man and the larger idea of finding the power within. For a property built on one of the most recognizable toy and animation heroes of the last four decades, that feels like the right move. The featurette reframes this live-action take not just as a nostalgia play, but as a full hero’s journey with Nicholas Galitzine stepping into one of pop culture’s most enduring roles.
The Sword, the Myth, and the Man
The smartest thing about a featurette like this is that it reminds people He-Man is more than a look, a sword, or a catchphrase. He is the center of a transformation story. Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam after 15 years away from Eternia, as the Sword of Power calls him back to a world shattered under Skeletor’s rule. That setup gives the character more weight because Adam is not simply arriving to throw punches. He is being forced to reclaim a legacy, protect his family, and finally become the version of himself the world needs.
That angle is what gives the movie its broadest appeal. The franchise has always lived on the power fantasy of He-Man, but the story underneath it is about stepping into strength, responsibility, and identity. The featurette seems built to make that emotional core clearer, especially for viewers who may know the character by name but never fully connected with the mythology.
Eternia’s Hero Looks Built for the Big Screen

This push also helps sell Galitzine as the face of the film. He has the job of carrying both sides of the role, the uncertainty of Adam and the larger-than-life force of He-Man, and that balance matters more than any one visual. A live-action Masters of the Universe only works if audiences buy the transformation, not just the armor.

The surrounding cast helps strengthen that world. Camila Mendes plays Teela, Idris Elba plays Duncan or Man-At-Arms, and Jared Leto steps in as Skeletor, with Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto rounding out the ensemble. That lineup gives the film the kind of big fantasy energy it needs while still keeping the spotlight where it belongs, on the hero at the center of it all.
The Masters of the Universe Return in June

Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe looks like it wants to deliver the spectacle fans expect while grounding the story in Adam’s rise into He-Man. The new featurette is a smart reminder that the movie’s biggest selling point is not just Eternia, Skeletor, or the visuals. It is the myth of He-Man himself.
Masters of the Universe opens in theaters on June 5, 2026. Fans can watch the new “Who is He-Man?” featurette now, while the full film arrives exclusively on the big screen next month.
