The Hobbit Secret Lair

The Hobbit Secret Lair Leads a Treasure Hoard of New Secret Lairs

MagicCon: Amsterdam delivered a full Reveal-a-Thon of upcoming Magic: The Gathering Secret Lairs. The Hobbit Secret Lair was one of the biggest revealsss with actual cards, seven meals, and five total drops planned for August. Wizards also teased new collaborations with Masters of the Universe and Hatsune Miku. If that was not enough cardboard temptation, A Perfectly Normal Superdrop is also coming in September.

Bilbo’s Adventure Becomes a Marvelous Mathom

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: A Marvelous Mathom Superdrop draws from Bilbo Baggins’ unexpected journey across Middle-earth. Its five drops will explore invisible footsteps, travels beyond the Shire, dangerous artifacts, dark creatures, and one especially territorial Dragon.

The first card reveal includes Diabolic Intent, Stony Silence, Sol Ring, and Arcane Heist. Each receives artwork based on memorable moments and characters from The Hobbit. The collection immediately covers everything from Gandalf’s guidance to Bilbo’s sneaking and the dangerous treasures waiting beyond his front door.

Another drop, Second Breakfast and Beyond, contains seven different Food tokens. Each represents one of a Hobbit’s proper daily meals: breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper. Finally, Commander players can accurately track their Food while explaining why the table absolutely needs another meal.

Wizards describes the Superdrop as a collection of “Mathoms.” In Hobbit culture, the term refers to something too interesting to discard despite having no immediate use. That makes Mathoms an alarmingly accurate description of most carefully guarded card collections.

More Treasures Are Still Waiting Under the Mountain in The Hobbit Secret Lair

Wizards has only opened part of this treasure hoard. Additional The Hobbit drops will be revealed weekly before the complete Superdrop arrives.

The remaining themes point toward invisible Bilbo, the road beyond the Shire, powerful artifacts, and Smaug’s hoard. That leaves plenty of room for more flavorful reprints tied to Bilbo’s company and their increasingly dangerous adventure.

A Marvelous Mathom Superdrop launches August 17 at 9:00 a.m. PT through the Secret Lair storefront. Second Breakfast and Beyond will cost $29.99 in non-foil and $39.99 in foil. Pricing for the remaining drops and bundles will be announced with their full reveals.

Hatsune Miku Is Ready to Command the Stage

Hatsune Miku is returning to Secret Lair, but this time she is bringing an entire Commander deck. The video teaser offered a taste of its musical theme without unveiling the complete decklist.

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku launches August 10, 2026. More details about its strategy, cards, treatments, and pricing are still to come.

Eternia Joins the Gathering

Mattel and Wizards are also combining their powers for Secret Lair x Masters of the Universe. Its teaser confirmed that Eternia will enter Magic on September 14, but no individual cards appeared.

That mystery makes the collaboration even more interesting. He-Man, Skeletor, Castle Grayskull, and the franchise’s wonderfully excessive muscles offer plenty of possibilities for Commander decks. For now, Wizards is keeping Eternia’s cards behind the Jawbridge.

A Perfectly Normal Superdrop Looks Anything But Normal

Secret Lair

A Perfectly Normal Superdrop will follow on September 1. The eclectic lineup includes Marvel Pets, Marvel Romance, Hulk, Lofi Girl, and artist showcases featuring Gene Luen Yang, Robin Eisenberg, and Ian Miller.

With Stardew Valley arriving July 27, Hatsune Miku on August 10, The Hobbit on August 17, A Perfectly Normal Superdrop on September 1, and Masters of the Universe on September 14, Secret Lair has filled the next two months with dangerous amounts of temptation.
